The Black River Inn Bed & Breakfast is consistently praised for its exceptional cleanliness, warm hospitality, and delicious homemade breakfasts. Guests highlight the innkeepers’ attentiveness and the property’s peaceful, rural setting near South Haven and outdoor activities. It provides a truly welcoming and memorable experience centered around personalized care and comfort.
We love Black River Inn! We have stayed here twice now and had an amazing visit each time. Both visits have been in the winter and it was so peaceful and cozy to soak in a hot bath and sit by the fireplace in our room! Bob and Judine are so friendly and kind and provide excellent service! We look forward to coming back in the future!
It is difficult to describe just how wonderful the Black River Inn is. From the moment we arrived, the aromas from the kitchen assured us the food would be exceptional. Everything was cooked to perfection, and it was clear that every meal was prepared with great care. All of Judine's recipes were lovingly prepared and Bob's breakfast potatoes were a delicious highlight. The smell of fresh-baked cookies was a daily treat we looked forward to! We also appreciated how accommodating they were when we had to reschedule due to the winter weather. The hosts have a wealth of knowledge of the local area. The Inn is within walking distance to nearby cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. The Inn itself is beautiful—peaceful and rural, yet only five minutes from South Haven. Our "Olympic" themed room was spotless and comfortable, and the in-room jetted tub was both romantic and therapeutic. It is easy to see the little touches that reflect the care Judine and Bob provide. The level of cleanliness throughout the entire Black River Inn Bed and Breakfast is nothing short of exceptional, and the owners clearly demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards, truly making it a standout in the industry. More than anything, the hosts are both such warm and engaging people. After our four-day stay, we truly felt as though we had made friends for life. Having stayed at Bed and Breakfasts across the country for over 30 years, we can confidently say that none come close to the level of care, warmth, and cleanliness we experienced at the Black River Inn. Do yourself a favor and book a stay at Black River Inn! Bob and Judine--THANK YOU for a wonderful stay!
This is a B & B everyone needs to stay while visiting South Haven. The breakfast is delicious, right next to the bike trail, the rooms spacious, nicely decorated, and CLEAN! The owners truly think of everything including putting a shelf at the top of the stairs to set your coffee down while you open your door. The grounds are beautiful! 5 stars for sure. If we could give this B & B more stars we would.
I don’t know where to start! This was a surprise bday trip for my husband and it was an AMAZING stay! The innkeepers, Bob and Judine are so kind and accommodating. Not to mention the breakfast that Judine cooks every morning! If you get a chance to go, make sure you ask about her apple cinnamon muffins! They are nothing short of pure heaven! And she served them warm! The coffee is really good and I’m not even a coffee drinker. They even made decaf just for us. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable and so were the pillows. The pillows can be a dealbreaker for us, but they got it RIGHT! We had an in room jacuzzi and it was perfect after walking downtown all day. They even offered essential oils for it if you like. At night there was a fire pit. We didn’t go down because we were tired, but the other couple at the inn did. They enjoyed it. The beds were made everyday and new towels were provided. The dining area is like a little restaurant in their home. It was set up so nicely. Every morning there was not only great coffee, but a cranberry juice mix, oj and infused water. It was like staying at a high end resort. They have bikes on the property that you can use and a trail nearby. There isn’t much more you could ask for at the Black River Inn. Bob and Judine make you feel like FAMILY. Just beautiful souls that make you feel like you’re home. Thank you for having us and we’ll be back!
This place is incredible. The property is so well manicured. The layout is very welcoming. This place is the cleanest place I've ever stayed even high-end hotels or other bed and breakfasts. The floors gleam! The rooms are so clean and well decorated and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning is simply fantastic and unmatched. Homemade blueberry muffins, quiche lorraine, sliced fruit with banana, strawberry, kiwi. The sausage was so good I'm hoping they have it again tomorrow, and fresh orange or cranberry juice at the table. It's so funny that originally making our way down this dirt road to get here made me wonder whether this was going to be a big mistake.... The only mistake would have been to stay somewhere else. Next time I'm back up in this part of the woods this is where I'm staying. Big 5 stars with an exclamation point!
My wife and i just stayed here for our 34 wedding anniversary and what a great pick for a bed and breakfast. The location was perfect. We were greated at the door with such enthiusasim and smiles. We felt as if we were best friends. It was such a great experience. We felt so at home the whole time. You 2 are such beautiful people. Our talks were something we will never forget. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone. We will be back. Thank you again for the most beautiful stay at such a beautiful home. You guys are awesome. Eric and Susan
