Lake Bluff Inn and Suites offers a prime location on Lake Michigan, providing beautiful sunset views and a peaceful atmosphere, particularly appreciated during the off-season. While many guests enjoyed the amenities and proximity to South Haven, recurring issues with room cleanliness, security, and malfunctioning equipment have raised concerns.
Location was beautiful. It would have been better if we could have accessed the beach easier. Beds were horrible. The Worn out mattress was so very thin. Upon arrival we discovered the bathroom sink was broken…remained broken even after three requests to fix it. There was no deduct for this inconvenience. The rooms have had a poor excuse for remodeling. $882 for two nights. I would have rather stayed at a Holiday Inn Express!!
This was such a nice surprise for our South Haven trip. The location is excellent close enough to everything but still quiet and relaxing. We loved watching the sunset from the bluff and appreciated how easy everything was from check-in to checkout. Rooms were comfortable, well maintained, and had everything we needed for a weekend stay. Great value for the area and a very enjoyable experience overall.
Really enjoyed our stay at Lake Bluff Inn & Suites. The property has an amazing view of Lake Michigan and felt very peaceful compared to busier hotels in the area. Our room was spotless when we arrived, and the staff made us feel welcome right away. The pool and outdoor seating areas were a nice bonus after spending the day downtown. Definitely a place we’d stay at again.
Unscrupulous, sneaky, and intentional. This place will just fine you a month later and hope you don’t react to the random fee they charged (a month later) until it’s too late for any recourse. Your bank will reject a fine like this if you report it to them in time, so if you’ve stayed here keep an eye out; they’re proud of themselves for this behavior. Try always being the person who makes the entire group have to stop because EVERYBODY who doesn’t use a service dog thinks they get to comment, critique, or punish the entire group. As though I haven’t been relying on a service dog for over a decade so maybe I actually know how those laws are written. And the whole reason the dog is there is so that if I have a Convulsive VVS episode the dog is the keeper that makes sure I don’t die because my heart didn’t restart if I didn’t land correctly when I fell (also I could injure my head from the fall). That is my reality, at any time my body could take a stress trigger and decide to stop my heart and send me to the ground. And that same nerve also controls digestion and I’ve been starving since 2017, struggling to eat 1 or 2 meals per day. So one day my body will give out from malnutrition or my heart will stop and not restart. But so sorry all the healthy people just living their lives don’t have to deal with that sort of thing so it’s very easy to just fine my mom $250 (again, a full month after we had left) for the dog she told you was coming when she made the reservation. And your response was “oh well”. One day you too will face the creator and we are all image bearers of God. He warned us to watch out for the least of us, we are our brother’s keepers.
Our visit was in the off-season. The only reason it wasn't five star was because the gym and sauna was closed for the season. And that's understandable. Great place we will come back
Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We love its location on the lake and the access to the water. We love that we are at the edge of town for a little more quiet atmosphere but a short drive to dining and shopping. The only issue stopping me from giving it a full 5 star review is 1 no secondary lock on the door and 2 our fire place didn’t work (room 49)
Came in the off season for an annual night away. The tub didn't hold water or work. And in a building full of empty rooms they put us below some of the noisiest Tennants. Didn't sleep a wink. The views are nice but this annual trip will not be here next year.
Our family of 4 stayed in a large suite with kitchen (2 bedrooms with full beds plus a pull out couch in the living room). If we had known it was 2 full beds, we probably wouldn't have booked it but that's our fault for not seeing it when booking. It would be really nice if these rooms had queen beds - they're big enough for it. Pros: -Great view of the lake -Nice swimming pool and hot tub -Gaming center is fun for adults and kids -Air conditioner works great -Good water pressure in the shower -Kitchen is functional, oven/microwave work, and fridge is good size; has a coffee maker, and they provide supplies to make coffee -The area is great; South Haven is a really cute town Cons: -Security; the front door automatically locks, but has no way to bolt it from the inside if you want to feel more secure; the back door has the flimsiest lock I've ever seen and would be very easy to kick in. In the suite, none of the rooms have locks that work (even the bathroom). -No TVs in the bedrooms; only 1 TV in the suite (not ideal for families with children) -No decor at all; lots of scratches and bad places on the walls -Bathroom has no place to put toiletries, and the toilet has no lid; so if you put toiletries in the window sill, they're likely to fall into the toilet. -No way to do laundry; we had to go to a laundromat. -Kitchen has an oven and some random dishes and utensils but no baking sheets/cookie sheets (anything to cook food in the oven) or oven mitts; could use a pizza cutter. There also isn't any cabinet space or anywhere to put groceries besides the kitchen table. -The smoke detector in one of the bedrooms went off at 10:30 p.m. one night and wouldn't quit. We had to take it off the wall and take out the battery. We texted the number we were given for after-hours help. It took them 20 minutes to get back to us, and they told us they'd send maintenance in the morning to look at it; but the maintenance person never came. -Price: Since we went in the off season, we're not sure the amount we paid was worth it. Overall, if we ever came back to South Haven, we'd probably look for a different place to stay.
We booked with a couple of weeks notice. Our stay for 2 nights was over $750. We stayed in a Superior room on the 1st floor and recommended this if you are traveling with kids. What we loved - The views. This Inn is directly on the lake, and if you are looking for a place that has spectacular views this place has it! We loved sitting out each evening for sunset. We made a fire one night and on another our kids played in the sand while we watched the sunset. It was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. The proximity to town, it’s just a 7 minute drive to town which made coffee runs, and travel very easy. The kitchenette area in our room. Made prepping kids food, snacks and drinks super easy. Linens were clean, plenty of towels. What we wish had been better - We wished that the room windows, doors and exterior had been cleaner. Lots of cobwebs, bugs etc. The building and patios need a good leaf blow to knock back bugs. The water heater was out when we arrived(they got it fixed), it was an inconvenience after being at the beach all day with little kids. Our air conditioner stopped working at around midnight our second night. It was super loud and scary to wake up too. The fire pit needed to be cleaned so bad, it was full of ash and clearly unkempt. The coffee maker in our room did not work. The pool and kiddie pool needed a better cleaning, the pool decks need a good leaf blow to clear out debris and spider webs. It was grimy. All the games were broken in the entertainment room. This space needed a really good cleaning and felt a little forgotten about. It seemed a groundskeeper is needed here. Reasons to book - The lake views and bluff area is so stunning. A glass of wine, some snacks. Perfect to hang and enjoy the loungers and the lake.
