This property suffers from a significant inconsistency in quality; while one guest praised the cleanliness and hospitality, others reported severe hygiene, safety, and customer service failures, including unresponsive management.

Trust me the two stars are ONLY for my ability to have my dog with me during my stay, which this place is clearly taking advantage of. Otherwise, this place is horrid. I've tried but I just CAN NOT, and will not, EVER come to this place again. Stained linen and dingy white stained towels. UGH. My last two visits, I had to sleep with bugs, always stained linen. This visit, It's stained linen, No cable, not even analog TV . No wifi, and a dirty freaking tub again. I dont care what my friend has to come to this town for nor do I care how close it is to ANYTHING, Ill drive a distance to NEVER EVER step foot into this nasty place again. Stick a fork in me, Im done.

This was the worst experience for me, my fiance and my mother. We arrived around 8pm on 11/15/25. We went to go get our keys from inside and no one was in there. Which is fine, they all have jobs to do. Finally someone came out and gave us our keys. As we were driving to our side of the hotel we realized that no one was staying at this hotel. We were on the second floor, so we had to use the stairs to get to our room. As we were walking up the stairs there were cigarette butts and empty alcohol bottles thrown everywhere. There were 10+ boxes of Modelo thrown on the second floor. We got to our rooms and the first thing we noticed was the smell. It smelled like someone had smoked a pack of cigarettes a minute before we walked in. Then I look at the bed, there were burn marks on our blanket, questionable stains everywhere and it smelled like mildew. Our bathroom was covered in hair (on the walls and ground), and there was a hole in the wall above our bed. I walked to my mother’s room, and it smelled 10x worse. We immediately left and went downstairs and asked for a refund, and the lady told us that someone would call in the morning since there was not a manager in at the moment. We left and stayed somewhere else, and in the morning we received no call from anyone. We went in there physically and the “manager” began yelling at us and throwing his hands up like this was not something he cared or worried about. He refused to speak to us and sat behind his desk not talking. Please save yourself the time, it may be cheaper but no one should ever put themselves in this situation.

I am most disappointed with my most recent stay. My profile on my 3rd party booking site states I have a service animal. The website for Econolodge in Paw Paw, MI states that service animals are welcome and they stay for free. I paid a $25 deposit and when I went to get it returned to me upon checkout, I was informed that it wasn’t being returned because I “hid” my dog. I absolutely did not! My booking receipt for my stay at Econolodge clearly shows in detailed instructions/special requests that I do have a service animal. When I tried to speak to the older gentleman that was working he told me he would not discuss it any further, pointed to a sign on the wall regarding pet policy and asked me to leave at once. I called to try and discuss it with someone after I left and the person answering my calls hung up on me both times. I have stayed here in the past without incident. I didn’t see this coming at all. I will contact the ADA to report this non-compliance issue and pursue legal action if necessary. I don’t see the reason behind making an example out of me when I’m handicapped. I am upset by the older gentleman’s actions and I will not stand for being treated poorly due to my having a disability.

The level of hospitality here is superb for any hotel, much less one of an economy brand. The property was clean and well-lit, and as a female traveling alone, I felt safe. The staff was kind, and the room was clean and well-stocked

I stayed here again while heading to Chicago and really enjoyed the peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The room was spacious, tidy, and everything was perfectly in place. It seems like the hotel is under new management, and I have to say the service is now friendlier and much quicker than before.
