The HawksHead Inn offers a highly praised dining experience and a relaxing stay, but guests should be cautious about accessibility issues due to the absence of elevators and the functional state of older facilities.

We have again enjoyed our stay at Hawkshead Inn. The facilities are terrific - an Inn that brings a relaxing time with an amazing restaurant that sets a standard for the South Haven area. Coming from Naperville it is a special time to enjoy the Inn and the golf course that is spectacular. Many years of semi annual trips to Hawkshead has again made for a fantastic stay. The owner Greg and his staff bring the best customer experience you could expect. Thank you again for a memorable visit. See you next year. ???

It surprises me that there were mostly four and five star reviews. I would have loved to give this place a 5 star rating, and for what it's worth, the staff gets 5 stars for responsiveness. BUT ! ! I wouldn't be giving an honest review if I gave it 5 stars for a great staff. First of all we got put on the 3rd floor of a building with no elevator. I'm 74 and had hip replacement surgery this year, and those stairs were a major chore, especially after a day of golfing, and/or bike riding. I couldn't stand up to use the toilet, because the roof slanted just above the toilet. And speaking of the toilet, the seat was barely fastened and shifted two or more inches when you had to lean to use TP. And while we're in the bathroom, the first night when we used the shower we had three inches of standing water that took several minutes to drain. When my wife used the shower, it actually back bubbled, and a wad of hair came up from the drain. The following morning I reported it, and they fixed it promptly. Oh - and there was one thermostat on the entire floor, which guests could access. I think we had polar bears in one of the rooms, because we set it to 73 degrees, but either a timer, or another guest would set it to 68 which was quite uncomfortable to us. The breakfast was described to us as a "continental". What it was, was the same note card that we had to leave outside our door each night. Choices were coffee, sweetbread, cold hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and a fruit bowl. We asked for toast, but they couldn't manage that. Oh - and if you wanted to get into your room during the day, you had to have a passcode, and go through a side door, and of course still the daunting 3 floors. I used to always use stairs just for the exercise, and when we were younger we purposely avoided the elevators because it was often quicker to use the stairs, but at 75 it a little different. Golf is (to me) expensive, but we knew that from the website, and decided this was a trip we weren't going to worry about prices, but when the snack shack charged $24 for two sandwiches and drinks, I had to try very hard to ignore the price. I think 3 is a very generous rating. Again though - the staff was very responsive, and that made the rest of the experience enjoyable.

Looking for a unique place then this is it! The staff/owners all get five stars. This place is quaint and reminds me of the place on the Gilmore girls show. We went on a couples golf weekend. They are the one stop that has it all. The dining experience is wonderful. The mornings with Alecia serving warm breads, fruit, yogurt, juices (and the best coffee I’ve had in a while) is a great way to start your morning. The bedrooms are nice size with comfortable mattresses. The golf course is beautiful and it is maintained well. There are challenges on the course (but not too many ) we all really liked it a lot. We look forward to coming back again!

What an absolute fantastic venue to play and stay. All aspects of the experience were top notch. From the moment we stepped foot on the property to the time we left, 4 days later, we were made to feel better than family. Food was great, accommodations were excellent and the golf was phenomenal. Will definitely be going back to stay and play again. Thanks to the owners...you did a fabulous job; please don't change anything.

My first visit. Excellent food. We had a large group for an anniversary party and the server was great. She was very friendly and cheerfully answered any questions and took care of everything we asked for. Kudos to her and the kitchen staff as we ordered many items and all were superb! Thanks again highly recommend and will return.
