Lakeview Vacation Rentals’ properties, particularly the ‘Avery 12’ and ‘Brockway 06’, are consistently receiving negative feedback regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and accurate portrayal in online listings. Recent stays have highlighted issues such as cobweb-covered windows, ant infestations, broken amenities, and unsettling garage views. While some guests appreciate the location and A/C, significant improvements are needed to meet guest expectations.

We stayed this past weekend in South Haven. We had a great time. Cody was very responsive. House was very clean and welcoming. Highly recommend.

My family travels to South Haven a lot. I’ve stayed at 7 or 8 properties in South Haven over the past few years, and staying at the “Avery 12” (same location as the other recent review about Brockway 06) was hands down the most disappointing experience I’ve had. When we arrived, all of the blinds on the property were raised, and I quickly noticed how filthy the windows were–not the glass on the *inside* of the property, but the actual physical windows were caked with cobwebs, dead bugs, leaves, etc. This includes the screened in porch on the front of the cottage. The weekend was going to be sunny and mild so I thought it would be a great opportunity to enjoy fresh air, etc. I communicated with Cody, the contact I had at Lakeview, about how dirty everything was. He said that this was the first time hearing about these issues, and that he would try to get someone over to clean the next day. The next morning in daylight, we realized that half of the windows did not have screens (?!), and also just how large of a cleaning job this would be. The idea of having someone attempt to clean would have been really disruptive, so I told him not to bother. I did send him pictures so he could see how gross things were, and his response was: “We just picked these properties up this year and I’m trying to get as much done as I possibly can but it does take time to get everything up to par.” Then maybe don’t put the place up for rent? That same day, when we began cooking, it became clear that the cottage has an ant problem in the kitchen. I let Cody know and his response was, “Yep, ants are really bad this year. I have them in my own house as well.” I honestly could not believe this was his response. There were ants crawling on the microwave, countertops, walls, stovetop, and sometimes our food as we tried to cook. Ants are an extremely fixable problem and I, too, have had them in my home. We have our home treated and no longer have an ant problem! Other issues: Wifi was often slow/laggy, or didn’t work at all. The beach “equipment” consisted of two chairs, one of which had a broken strap so it was difficult to carry, and an umbrella which also had a broken carrying strap. Be prepared to bring or buy everything you need–even things like a spare garbage bag and salt and pepper. The pictures of this rental are not exactly misleading–but they do not capture the condition of the property on the whole, and they portray a much more polished space than what you will find (it almost seems as if they were staged real estate photos from a few years back that have been repurposed and not updated). The positives: It is extremely close to Oak St. beach, which is one of our favorites in South Haven. The A/C works well, the beds were fine, and the area is quiet and safe. Bottom line: This property is *not* in rental condition, and the rental company does not seem to care about this. Photo: view outside the window of the main bedroom.

My husband and I just returned from staying at Brockway 06. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement. The home had two renovations - the kitchen and the bathroom. The kitchen has a locked door with a huge window to the attached garage. The garage is a creepy dump zone with old mattresses etc. just the view I wanted enroute to our morning coffee. The bathroom is tiny. We are not large people and we couldn’t turn around. Plus the water pressure was terrible - just more than a trickle. Now let’s look at the non-renovated areas. The front porch is literally falling off the house. The door barely locks. One good pull and the lock is useless. The most disturbing issue was the smell of mold/mildew. We used room deodorizer and fan for our short stay. It was a disappointing stay and I feel very mislead by the online pictures. The living room sofa and 2nd bedroom bed are NOT as pictured. I can not in good conscience recommend this substandard property to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. Lakeview meet with the owner and insist they do better.

Roomy and comfortable! My family had a great time, specifically, the little boys in the swimming pool. Plenty of space for everyone to stretch out. Conveniently located.

Lovely little spot close to town and South Beach. We walked most places, and especially enjoyed Cafe Julia for our breakfasts. Only downfall of this little dog friendly house is that the bathroom is down a steep flight of stairs from the bedrooms, making nighttime navigation a little tough. I have a weak left side of my body & relied heavily on the banister getting both up and down the steps. Other than that we had a wonderful stay in beautiful South Haven!
